FMP 1 evaluation

Overall evaluation:

It was certainly a rollercoaster of a project to say the least, and considering it was the first time I had done anything like this, I would like to say I did pretty well and I'm confident that I put the work in throughout the whole 10 weeks. I was happy that I was able to get everything done in time, but there's certainly some things to work on.

What went well:

  • I was eventually able to secure both my interviews. I was at a point before the final week of production where I was convinced that I wasn't getting an interview, so to get them both done before the end of the 2 production weeks was great!

  • I was able to push through all the issues and setbacks that I faced, which was quite a lot. I've always found resilience to be something that I have struggled with, but I think I have developed some over the course of the project, which of course is going to be useful for me in every aspect of life and in the future!

  • I was actually able to submit my whole project on time. My lack of organisation didn't help with how close I came to the line when submitting, but I was able to do it, and put an extra push of determination in when it mattered, which is something I was proud of with myself.

To be improved for next time:

  • Despite creating a timetable, I need to have better organisation with my project. I struggle with procrastination too, which I have found has been a setback at times when trying to complete work. It is something that I have always struggled with, but will try to improve on when I get to the next FMP so it doesn't effect me as much as it has this time around.

  • I need to have more confidence in myself. I feel like my lack of confidence at times has stopped me from contacting certain guests, or further contacting if they haven't responded within a considerable time frame, as I don't want to seem pushy or rude to them, as that won't help me with securing an interview. I need to overcome this barrier as being quite cautious isn't going to help me with completing the project in time.

  • I need to be open to more options. When completing work, and I've found especially during this project that I have set my mind pretty early on about interviewing particular guests, which may have stalled me at times from getting other tasks done and contacting other people as a Plan B, as I was primarily focused on finishing that.

  • Linking to my organisation, I also struggled to complete some of my diary entries due to how much work I had to do, most notably in Week 2 and Week 9, as I now couldn't remember what I had done in those weeks due to falling behind. I think for the next project I need to be making logs every day at home after college to keep track of what I've done and need to do, or just find a different method altogether of keeping my diary on track, which I can't really think of right now.
